The Challenge
This backyard is sloped,contains a drainage swale and is backed by elevated homes looking down into the yard. The task is to create an relaxation/entertainment space with a degree of privacy without making the space feel too boxed in .
The Solution
A retaining wall was utilized to create a level and usable area.
Paver areas were designated for the seating and fire table with the balance dedicated for plant material to soften the area and contribute to privacy as it grows in.
A custom privacy screen was constructed with a cantilevered roof section to buffer views into the seating area and filter some of the suns rays.
A water feature comprised of three drilled Basalt columns provides a point of reflection and a source of white noise tempering the sounds of suburbia
